We welcome back Thea Ewing!

She is the Chief Regional Development Officer and Senior Director of Programming, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC).

Continued growth in Central Ohio calls for research, planning, and execution of strategies for the infrastructure of the region.

MORPC has been a powerful partner in our community for many years.  What value does MORPC bring to our communities?

When Thea was on the podcast previously, we discussed the “Master Plan” coordinated by MORPC. The team continues to update the plan and evaluate the transportation infrastructure. The bottom line – a community cannot grow if workers cannot get to their jobs, children cannot get to school, and we cannot shop, seek entertainment, or see our families and friends. We get some highlights on the Master Plan and current changes under discussion.

Another important piece of legislation supported our bid to bring INTEL to Ohio.

They were committed but the “CHIPS” Act funding made it a reality. INTEL is taking over large pieces of New Albany, Johnstown, and other communities in Licking County. The new facilities will greatly change the community landscape.

Much of our public transportation does not work for those who are other-abled, and elderly. MORPC recently requested proposals for projects to meet those in each of these situations.

And we get an update on the Hyperloop and the potential for passenger trains coming into Columbus!

Tons of resources were mentioned in the podcast. We hope they are useful for you.

We would love to hear from you.
