We are celebrating veterans this November, as well as supporting our current troops. This year we are featuring women in the military and women veterans, for their service to our country and for the challenges they have faced.

We welcome Dr. Dana L. Robinson-Street, Hybrid Urgent Care Provider for Ohio Health in the Urgent Care and Telehealth Clinic. She is also a Doctorate prepared Nurse Practioner with a master’s certification as a Health Professional Educator and a veteran of 25+ years of active service in the United States Navy.

How did the military realize the value women provide to the services, whether it is on the front line, or at home?

The role of females in the healthcare fields in the military may be different than other roles. Did you find it easier? And how were you able to take advantage to further your medical education and training while in active service?

Having a mentor has been an issue for many women in their career progression. Mentors smooth the paths and provide needed guidance. Is it possible to find mentors – women or men – while in the military and after you have gone back to civilian status? Have you had the opportunity to have a mentor?

Leaving military service -particularly after a long tenure – can be a scary time. What were your steps as you left the military and entered veteran status? Were there services/programs you could take advantage of to get you started such as employment search, or financial stabilization?

There are challenges women in the military are dealing with as they leave active service. Are mental health issues keeping women from flourishing in their communities? And how are female vets dealing with the need to find employment – are jobs available and are salary levels equal?

Women, especially women in the military leaving the service, often do not ask for help, or even self-identify their successful backgrounds. How do vets organizations find those female veterans and communicate information on the services/programs available to them?

We would love to hear from you.
